Tornados
are funnels of high winds that are frequently sighted
in the grasslands. The wide open spaces provided
the perfect conditions for these to develop.
The wind
speeds can range from near 120 km/h (75 mph) to
almost 500 km/h (300 mph). The forward motion
of a tornado can range from a near standstill
to almost 110 km/h (70 mph).
This
is strong enough to destroy a house. Warning systems
have not yet being fully operational and many
towns and lives are lost every year.
Could this be an impossible project for scientists?

STORM
CHASERS
The
storm chasers are scientist who work on identifying
storms and hurricanes and tornados in order to
provide information and warnings to save lives.
Today,
many organizations work to improve warning systems
and study storms. Visit some of their sites!
